How Is Gum Disease Treated?
In this video, Dr. Charles Pearson explains how gum disease is treated and what patients can do at home to slow or stop its progression.
The treatment for periodontal disease includes improved home care and surgical procedures to eliminate overgrown tissue, which makes it easier for you to keep your teeth clean.
I have found for 30 years now, since the introduction of the Waterpik, that using it with as much as 50% peroxide greatly reduces the disease and halts destruction. You can’t put back what is lost, but you can stop it from getting worse, and that is the goal of treatment. It is a difficult situation, and some people are affected more than others, but good home care—and if you do have it, the addition of hydrogen peroxide mixed with water in your Waterpik—goes a long, long way toward at least halting the progress of the disease.
