What Are All-on-4 Dental Implants?
In this video, Dr. Charles Pearson explains what All-on-4 dental implants are and why he often recommends alternative implant approaches that preserve more bone.
The “All-on-4” procedure refers to replacing all your teeth with four conventional implants and a metal framework that connects them. While popular, the weak point is that if you lose just one of those four implants, you lose the entire case, and it usually must be redone completely. Additionally, conventional implants are longer and sometimes require shaving down the jawbone to create enough room for the teeth, which is the opposite of our goal to preserve valuable bone.
I prefer an alternative using multiple small-diameter implants (up to 10). These go in painlessly and serve the same function, but with the added benefit that if one implant fails, you don’t lose the entire case. We prioritize preserving your natural bone at all costs.
