Can My Current Denture Be Converted to an Implant Denture?
In this video, Dr. Charles Pearson explains how existing dentures can often be stabilized with mini implants instead of being completely replaced.
I get asked sometimes, “Doctor, what can I do with the dentures that I already have? I want to be able to taste my food better, and I don’t want all that bulk in my mouth all the time. Is there something you can do with those implants of yours that may help me out there?”
The answer to that is absolutely. That varies from keeping your denture just the way it is, especially on the lower one. We do quite a bit of this where the lower is floating around. Here is a lower denture moving around your mouth; it is very uncomfortable and hard to deal with.
We can stabilize that by putting in, usually, just four small mini-implants. It is painless; in one day, we put these in, put clips in the denture that you have, and you leave the office with a denture that stays put. There is nothing new there; we are just modifying what you have. This is a pretty common procedure.
