Dental Implant Healing and Aftercare: What to Expect

In this video, Dr. Charles Pearson explains what to expect after getting mini dental implants, including recovery, cleaning, and long-term maintenance tips.

So, I just had my mini-implants put in, Dr. Pearson. How would I go about taking care of those? Am I going to have a waiting period before I can use them? Is there a break-in period or something I have to be careful with?

In general, when we use mini-implants, they’re ready to go. That means your jawbone was dense enough, or we wouldn’t use them in the first place, and they integrate immediately. This is another big advantage of them. All implants need to be properly cared for.

In my practice, I recommend, especially for multiple implants, for the roundhouse bridges we talked about, complex cases, and even the simplest stuff. And for your natural dentition, you can’t beat one of these guys: it’s called a Waterpik. It cleans your teeth with a pulsating flow of water and gets in and around everywhere. I especially like it when peroxide is added to the water. This thing is simply filled with water, and I like peroxide about a quarter of the way in with it. Have at it. Clean them at night; it is just amazing and remarkable what that can do for you.
