What Are the Advantages of One-Piece Mini Dental Implants?
In this video, Dr. Charles Pearson explains the advantages of one-piece mini dental implants, including why they are often faster, less invasive, and more hygienic than traditional implants.
One-piece mini-implants offer several advantages. Because they have smaller diameters, they can be used in areas where the jawbone is too narrow for conventional implants. Unlike conventional implants, which have a gap where the components join that can trap bacteria (leading to peri-implantitis), one-piece implants are more hygienic.
They are also safer because we don’t need to drill a full-length hole; we drill halfway and let the implant self-guide, which avoids damage to nerves or sinuses. Furthermore, they are much faster; a mini-implant can often be placed and an impression taken in one day, with the final tooth ready two weeks later, compared to four to six months for conventional implants. Finally, they are less expensive because they involve fewer parts and less chair time.
