Who Is a Good Candidate for Mini Dental Implants?

In this video, Dr. Charles Pearson explains who may be a good candidate for mini dental implants and how they can improve confidence, stability, and chewing ability.

A good candidate for mini dental implants would be someone who does not have any health issues and is preferably a nonsmoker. I have had poor outcomes with heavy smokers, and I make that clear upfront.

You also need a certain level of jawbone density. If we place the implant and it does not achieve sufficient stability as it goes into the bone, there is a higher risk that it will not integrate properly, which increases the chance of failure.

These are the main factors that can disqualify someone from receiving mini dental implants. We will explain that clearly and let you know if there is an elevated risk.

In those cases, you may want to consider another option. That is where conventional implants come in. If you have enough jawbone to support them, they heal beneath the gum line without anything exposed, which prevents movement during healing.

That is the key distinction in my practice: the width and density of the bone. When conditions are appropriate, one-piece implants can be used in many areas today.
